Jefferson County Lake is a man made lake that is drained in the fall and filled again in the early summer. The best time to metal detect here is in the early spring after the snow has melted, or late in the fall after it has been drained and before the snow.

The area is great for coin shooting and you may pick up the occasional peice of jewelry. There is a lot of sand so bring your sand scoop.
